Why is the ratio of boys to girls in children's shows usually always 3/2?
I have noticed this and am not sure what to think about it. I know that I have a daughter who loves these shows and I want her to know that she is a man%26#039;s equal. Why do you think this is a common formula amoung children%26#039;s shows?
Example:
Scooby Doo:
Boys 3: Scooby, Shaggy, Fred
Girls 2: Thelma, Daphnie
Micheky Mouse Club House:
Boys 3: Mixckey, Donald, Goofy
Girls 2: Daisy, Minnie
Little Einstiens:
Boys 3: Leo, Quincy, Rocket (is a he)
Girls 2: Annie, June
Dora the Explorer:
Boys 3: Boots, Tico, Bennie
Girls 2: Dora, Isa
I am aware that there are shows with girls as a majority but these shows are specifically geared towards girls where as the ones above (except Dora) are gender neutral geared.
Why is the ratio of boys to girls in children%26#039;s shows usually always 3/2?
What about the boys shows that only have boys on them?
I am sure we could sort through the hundreds of children%26#039;s shows and find a handful of shows to support nearly any statistic we came up with off the tops of our heads...as you have.
Reply:in college, for gcse sociolgy i taped of tv from 11 to noon and then went over the adverts to find which featured more women or more men and what they were advertising. you can guess how it went.

Reply:There might be a little sexism at times but there are plenty of shows that have a more female main characters then men ratio such as the Simpsons. I think it must be a thing for men and boys so thst they don%26#039;t feel like they are watching a female program. Notice how most fox 5 cartoons have the wife as a housewife like family guy and American dad? it must be a prefference. why i don%26#039;t know but it is stupid.

Reply:Maybe they just show cartoons and focus on the story rather than concentrate on how many boys and girls feature... What about other cartoons.... come on if you going to compare and have consensus we can think of thousands of things and difference to compare.... sometimes there is no answer.... its all the way it is.

Reply:Maybe you should rethink boot camp. If the children are old enough(16) Job Corps is a really good program. You will get your GED and learn a trade all in a matter of some months. You can also go to a college paid for by Job Corps. You get paid a little money to stay there and you still have a regular life. You live in dorms with people just like you. You should rethink the boot camp thing.

The name of a children's mystery book in which a suspect wore hiking boots with the initials KK on the soles?
I recall reading this book in the early sixties and it took place on a mountain in a NE state that had a den of timber rattlesnakes in it. One of the suspects in the mystery was intent on burning out the rattlesnakes dens with gasoline. Decades latter I discovered the initials KK were a take-off of LL Bean.Anyone who can remember the name of the book and/or author has a far better memory then I do.

I am selling a children's merry go round like the ones you see at the car boots, anyone interested?
